Tasty, filling, and easy-to-prepare campfire dinners are what one wants. Camping should be a simplistic adventure, minus the need to spend a great deal of time on food preparation. Easy to Prepare Campfire Dinners
Easy camp recipes help you slap a delicious and nutritious meal together, which will liven up your campfire experience. After a day of exploring, hiking, viewing the scenic delights and wildlife, your appetite will be heightened. Although you’re starving, roasting weenies and marshmallows over a campfire is fun and fast but certainly not filling, and it gets boring after a few days.
While you won’t be cooking up five-course meals, there is a host of easy-to-prepare campfire dinners available to get your taste buds dancing. Camp food makes being in the great outdoors a genuinely unique experience and much different than cooking at home.
All you need is tin foil, a skillet or two, and a few other basic camping items (oh, and food, of course), and you’ll be all set. Cooking over an opened fire is one of the highlights of camping. It adds to the fun of camping outdoors. Kids get a big kick out of sitting around the campfire, listening to campfire stories while sinking their teeth into delicious food.

Campfire Recipes
Campfire cooking is a tradition everyone enjoys. So here are some terrific camp recipes for you to make.
Sausage & Onion Campfire Dinner
You will need:
- package of sausages
- onion
- large avocado (sliced)
- peppers
- wild rice (optional)
- cast-iron skillet
To prepare:
Cut sausages into bite-size portions and slice and chop the onion—brown sausages and onion in a skillet. Drop in the peppers if desired. Add slices of avocado and quickly heat it in the skillet; immediately add to the plate to serve.
For added carbs – after cooking sausages and onion for a couple of minutes, add in wild rice following the package directions. Cook until all the water is gone.
Campfire Crunchy Cabbage
You will need:
- One large sliced onion
- 2-3 slices of bacon
- head of cabbage (chopped)
- Two slices bread (cubed)
- salt & pepper
- garlic salt
- tablespoon cooking oil
To prepare:
Place diced bacon, cooking oil and cubed bread in a Dutch oven and cook until the bacon is just starting to get crispy. Add the onion and chopped cabbage and stir until the cabbage is wilted. Take the bread out and set it aside. Now add enough water to cover all the ingredients and bring to a boil. Keep cooking until the cabbage is tender. Pop the bread back into the Dutch oven and cook another 2-3 minutes. Add seasoning and serve immediately.
Campfire Bacon Pork & Bean Chili
You will need:
- large can pork & beans
- 1 block brick chili (found in the freezer section of grocery stores)
- 4 strips of bacon (diced)
To prepare:
Keep the juice from the pork and beans and set aside. Mix the pork and beans, diced bacon, and chili in a Dutch oven or heavy stock pan. Over a slow heat, stir until warm, and then add the reserved bean juice until you have the desired stew-like consistency. Add seasoning and warmth to the desired temperature.
Chicken Foil Campfire Dinner
You will need:
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 2 large zucchini, sliced
- 1/2 fresh head cauliflower
- 3 large celery sticks, sliced
- 8 mushrooms, sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced (you could use other colors as well)
- 2 large carrots, peeled and sliced into sticks
- 1/2 red onion, sliced into rings
- 4 tablespoons butter, divided
- 2 tablespoons Ranch seasoning
- heavy-duty tin foil

Campfire Stew Recipe
You will need:
- 1 lb ground beef
- small red onion (diced)
- green pepper (cubed)
- salt and pepper
- dutch oven or cast-iron skillet
To prepare:
Cook the ground beef with onion in a skillet. Add the green pepper after about five minutes. Cook until the desired heat then serve immediately.
Veggie Skewer Camping Recipe
You will need:
- red onion, red pepper, yellow squash, mushrooms, zucchini, green peppers (or veggies of your choice)
- extra virgin olive oil
- kosher sea salt
- crushed peppercorn medley
- wooden or metal skewers

Stuffed Trout Camp Recipe
You will need:
- Two cleaned trout
- large lemon (sliced)
- fresh dill
- salt & pepper
- garlic powder
- paprika
- butter
- tin foil
To prepare:
Sprinkle salt, pepper, garlic, and paprika on the outside of the trout. Cut slices on top of trout and stuff with the fresh dill and the lemon. Add a teaspoon of butter to the top of the fish and wrap the fish loosely in tinfoil. Place on the outer edge of the campfire on a rack. Cook until the fish is flaky. This will take approximately 10-15 minutes.
As you can see, there’s no shortage of delicious campfire dinners here. There are a plethora of campfire recipes to be found on the internet if these campfire dinners above are not to your liking. Yet I’m more than sure they will delight the taste bud of all campers.
