Though we love the mountains, we chose to vacation at the beach this year. Our time in Florida was exceptional, and we will go back. Here is a stroll through our road trip on the BEST family vacation to Orlando, Florida.
The best family vacation to Orlando, Florida, in a nutshell. Have you been lately?
Out of all the pictures I took, this one is my favorite. So natural and a bonus of scenery! Both of them were looking to the right at something – I just wished I knew what it was that caught their eye. I didn’t notice they were doing that until I saw the pic later that day.
I have to say special thanks to Chevy for letting us take this “loaded to the max” 2015 Chevy Tahoe LTZ to Florida and back. There was never a dull moment riding in this Tahoe. It made our time on the road very relaxing, and we felt safe.
Drove to Mobile, Alabama, and stayed the night in an IHG property and also on the way back. That’s a lovely town. Next time we go to a beach, we may go back here to visit their beaches. I heard great things about the white beaches from the locals – Gulf Shores-Orange Beach.

Our first, middle, and last activity – hanging by the pool at the hotel. Believe it or not, swimming with daddy was Brody’s favorite thing to do. This hotel had three pools, but we hung out at the main one the most. The waterfall was lovely to listen to, and Brody liked swimming under it.
Sea World Florida – a BEST family vacation to Orlando, Florida
On the 2nd day of our trip, we went to Sea World. I spent the whole day there and got to see the dolphins in motion. That was cool. We all had a great day.
Visiting Clearwater Beach, FL, on our 3rd day turned into an all-day trip. Brody’s second favorite thing to do!! I think he would be a beach bum if we lived close to one!! We ate at a nice restaurant that was walking distance from the beach and went shopping. It was a hot day for sure!!
I had to get a photo of Brody riding the surfboard at Ron Jon in Clearwater Beach. I believe that’s the original store. My husband went crazy there!! Easy to do!
We went to Disney World on our 4th day, which was the reason we went to Florida!! We had fun. It was hot, but not that crowded. A friend of mine told us that Mother’s Day weekend was the 2nd best time to go with fewer crowds. And it was. Brody wouldn’t or couldn’t ride some of the rides, so we rode the Buzz Lightyear ride three times and another one three times.
OMG – my second favorite picture. I asked him to smile, and this is what I got. FB friends and family went nuts over his smile!!
What a cute kid!! Our family vacation to Orlando just kept getting better and better each day we were there.
I had to show off my #DisneySide
A couple of days later, we went to Cocoa Beach (oh phew, I spelled it wrong on the pic). Since Brody enjoyed Clearwater Beach so much, we wanted to take him to another one. We mainly walked in the water and just had fun!! I had forgotten what it was like to go to a beach because we went to the mountains on our summer vacations. I loved the beach when I was younger, so completely satisfied with this trip.
Brody is shucking corn at a roadside store in Mississippi on our way home. The owner lets him shuck three stocks of corn, then gave them to him. I think we bought about $30 worth of jellies and sauces from the store. We probably could have stayed there longer because the owners were so friendly and talkative.
We drove from Texas to Louisiana to Mississippi to Alabama to Florida and back on our 9-day vacation. We had a terrific time, and memories were made on our family vacation to Orlando, Florida.
