We Adopted Rescue Puppies

May 25, 2015 Kim Croisant 8 Comments

As a family of dog owners, we treat them like family. When we lost our dogs last year, we felt empty. Our family wasn’t complete without doggy cuteness running around the house. About seven months later we adopted rescue puppies and it felt like a family again.

When you are used to having and caring for dogs, and then one day you wake up and there’s no barking, begging, and basking in the sun, we were ready once again to have a few running around. This time we adopted! It’s important that our newly adopted rescue puppies feel at home with us.

We Adopted Rescue Puppies

Meet our rescue puppies, Cindy (Cissy) and Cody. We adopted them in March of this year. They needed a home and we needed unconditionally love that only dogs can give. I can tell you that we are tremendously happy about our decision to adopt rather than buy from a breeder. It’s hard to put into words how I feel about the dogs we lost – they were part of our family. Cissy and Cody have made a difference in our family already. We adore puppy breath and love seeing doggy cuteness again. I think only dog owners know how I feel. We enjoy taking them to the park and rewarding them with Nudges treats when they do good things.

The rescue group told us they were 3 months old and could be adopted separately because of how young they were. Well, I couldn’t have that!! I didn’t want to split them up so my husband and I agreed that we would take them both. Our son, Brody really adores them. So, of course, I give them lots of love nudges all the time..we all do. Do you love to nudge your dogs? If you are curious as to what I’m talking about, visit this page for some precious dog inspiration www.nudgethemback.com.

I mentioned above that our puppies were 3 months old when we got them and we were also told they were Yorkie Shih-Tzu mix. Well, on their first vet appointment our family Vet told me that they already had their canine teeth so that makes them at least 6 months old. We thought, “no big deal” we love them no matter their age. THEN at their first grooming appointment with the Tina who groomed our previous dogs said, “no, they are Yorkie Havanese mix”. That made so much more sense to us. We had a Shih-Tzu and these puppies did not have the demeanor as our precious Scooter had. Nonetheless, we love them so. Still adopting dogs is such a win-win. Please adopt!

Walmart is where I found all flavors of Nudges® Wholesome Dog Treats. Be sure to check out the new Jerky Cuts value size (36 oz) while you’re there! I think any dog owner will appreciate the wholesome ingredients,  and knowing you’re not feeding your dogs a bunch of artificial flavors and preservatives is very comforting. With natural products and no preservatives added, I’m placing my opened bags in the refrigerator, where I place all my other natural products, so they will last longer. That’s just a suggestion should you go out and buy 3 large bags as I did!!

I know it is so hard to lose one of the fur kids. We have been going through that too lately. But saving two puppies is wonderful! Their energy is such great therapy.
