When your plans get canceled, you opt for plan B. Always, always have another plan in the back of your mind! Here are my recommendations for 12 Valentine’s family get-a-way essentials that will make everyone happy. Post sponsored by Oriental Trading.
Listen, I get it. My husband and I are older parents, and unfortunately, we do not know too many people who will watch our son for a whole weekend. If my mom or his mom lived closer, they would do it. If neither one can come to town, we either don’t go, or he comes along with us. We really don’t mind if our son goes on dates with us, but we do have to make sure he is delighted and busy or will drive us nuts!
When your plans for a romantic get-a-way get canned – you opt for plan B. So, most of the time, he comes along with us, so we prepare!
12 Valentine’s Family Get-A-Way Essentials
Here’s my list that will keep us all happy while on a supposedly romantic weekend get-a-way. I say, keep your plans; just make sure you carry along with Valentine’s favorites for the kiddos.
- Lots of candy kisses
- Valentine’s favor bags
- Roses and a vase
- Red Heart Chenille Pillow
- Homemade Valentine’s Cranberry Chocolate Kisses Cookies (for the husband)
- School Valentine’s cards with candy to keep your kiddo busy
- Wine (for the wife)
- Cuddly Fluffy Bear
- Book a spa (for the wife)
- Tea-light candles for when little one goes to bed
- Ribbon, ribbon, ribbon
- Display all essentials on a collapsible cupcake holder
So, you see where I’m going with this? Most of it is for the kiddo, but I hope to get that spa appointment where I can drink my wine!
With all seriousness, I got all these Valentine’s essentials at Oriental Trading for under $100. They have some of the cutest things for a very reasonable and affordable price. I think I’ve been ordering from them since the ’80s. Not sure about that, but it seems Oriental Trading has been around for a really long time.
Make it pretty and meaningful…, and you’ll forget all about that romantic get-a-way for just you two!
Those homemade cookies I made were the bomb. My husband loved them so so much! That’s all he’ll need on our get-a-way weekend. He does have a sweet tooth.
I saved the best photo for last. You gotta love your kiddos…and what a better time to show it than at Valentine’s.
