Top 5 Eco-Friendly Items to Take Camping

Planning a camping trip is exciting, but remember that you’re going to be out in nature, so you need to be as kind as possible to the area and eco-friendly as possible. Taking a ton of plastic items and trash isn’t the best idea, as these items aren’t good for Mother Nature.

But when you take the time to replace some things that can harm the environment, you’ll find that you’re helping keep the Earth cleaner and leaving your campsite better than when you arrived!

You’ll love this list of eco-friendly items to take on camping trips!

Top 5 Eco-Friendly Items to Take Camping

The point of becoming more eco-friendly is finding items you can easily reuse on your camping trips. By doing so, you’ll create less trash and reduce your overall footprint. These are a few recommendations for items that you can purchase to use over and over again.

Reusable Stainless Steel Bottles

There’s no doubt that you will be thirsty when camping. Staying hydrated is vital to weathering the heat during the hot months. This also means buying those plastic water bottles at the store is a HUGE no-no! Instead of supporting the production of plastic, purchase refillable and reusable stainless steel bottles for your cold water and hot coffee.

Everyone will have their water bottle and can fill them up without waste. A simple change can make a massive difference in the trash you produce while camping.

Bamboo Spoons and Forks

You have to eat while camping. Did you know that buying a package of plastic forks and spoons is terrible for the environment? I’m sure you did. As we all know, plastic silverware is used once and thrown in the trash, creating a tremendous amount of waste that ends up in a landfill.

Using bamboo spoons and forks not only means that they’re made from a material we have in abundance, but it also means that you can easily wash them and reuse them for all of your future camping meals.

Solar Lanterns

Why not use the sun more to power up your lanterns? Instead of plugging them into an outlet and charging them, use solar lanterns to let the sun’s rays charge them. They might take a little bit of time to charge up, but once they do, they’ll do a great job lighting up the night so you can see.

Just be sure to leave them setting out during the day so that they charge!

Non-Toxic Dish Soap

It would help if you used non-toxic cleaners since you’re switching to reusable plates, spoons, and all other cookware.

If you’re using dish soap with natural ingredients, you don’t have to worry about putting chemicals into the ground near your campsite. It also means that you don’t have to worry about animals’ safety since you’re using a soap that shouldn’t harm animals or humans.

Recycled Toilet Paper

Yes, this is a thing! Head to the store and purchase some recycled toilet paper to take camping. Not every store carries this sort of toilet paper, so you may want to call ahead. Please make sure that you’re also disposing of it in an eco-friendly way as well!

As you can see, you can easily camp in a more eco-friendly way and not rely on plastics to make your camping trip a good experience. Purchase items that don’t harm the environment so that you can do your part in keeping your favorite camping spots clean and true to nature!
