Okay, I get it – your kids get bored. Mine sure does. Here is a fun craft to do together that’s cheap, and that will keep them busy throughout the rest of the holidays. It’s something your kids can do at any time of the year also. This recycled tin can craft for kids kept my son and me busy for a while, and he didn’t even get bored – win-win!
First, get your kids to start collecting cool and weird stuff they find on the side of the road, parking lots, the driveway, and around your house to make their recycled tin can craft. Funkier, the better. Nothing has to match here!
Recycled Tin Can Craft for Kids
Gather your materials and make a plan. Here are a few of the things we found on the streets.
- tin can
- an old pair of earrings
- old button
- a wire from a phone plug
- old bed spring
- a halo from an angel that was in my garden for years
- and more!
You’ll also need a hot glue gun and something to make a hole in the top of the can, like a screwdriver and a hammer or a drill.
We could have gone crazy decorating our can, but my son was happy with it!
Step by step, we created our tin can craft. There’s no way to instruct anyone on how to make this as it’s a completely do it yourself craft.
Recycle Tin Can Idea
Here’s how I got the inspiration to make our tin craft. The photo below was an advertisement that came in my email about a bank. I took one look at it and knew it was something my kid would probably like to make. Pretty cool, uh? Grab a tin can and get started. Make yours the way you want, and use ours as inspiration (or theirs).
