We had another great vacation in northern New Mexico and I love to write about it. This time we took our granddaughter. Here is our vacation to Vermejo Park Ranch – New Mexico.

Well, it rained almost every day, but that did not stop us from having a great time and enjoying the view. I love letting pictures tell the story. Enjoy!
Our Vacation to Vermejo Park Ranch New Mexico
Day 1
We took off in the late afternoon and drove to Amarillo where we stayed the night. The kids had fun swimming in the hotel pool and watching TV. On the way out, I snapped some pictures of old trucks that are in front of the hotel. Pretty cool ones too!!

Day 2 of our Vacation to Vermejo Park Ranch
Headed to Vermejo – I think we stopped five times so Brody could pee!! Arrived early enough to take in a hike….or two. They wore me out. Picked up some fabulous rocks for Layla to take home.

Day 3
Hiking…again (when it wasn’t raining) and driving around the Ranch. Let Miss P. drive…she so thought she was doing more than I. Too funny.

This picture and the collage below are my favorite pics of the trip. Just look at these two having fun and bonding!

Later that evening before heading to the lodge to eat dinner, we attempted to hike up to the GAZEBO – but we only got so far, or I only got so far. Look at them running!

Day 4
Visiting Tracy at the game barn – so sweet and toasty there. Sure glad I brought my rain boots. Kids got to jump on neighbors trampoline with her boys.

A charming scenery outside the Game Barn. Skidded rocks in the water and little one attempted to walk across the board…NOT! He indeed would have no fears.

Day 5
Headed to Red River on the Enchanted Highway. Such a pretty drive. We saw Antelope. Reluctantly, Tracy peddled us around town. Yes, I helped!!

Spotted a great find – a pink retro lounge for my front flower bed at only $32 bucks!

Perfect spot for the lounge chair – right in front of my house.

We stayed at a charming and quaint lodge. Kids had fun playing outdoors in the evening while I got all cozy in a porch swing watching them.

Day 6
Around the Enchanted Circle, we went to visit Taos and have lunch. We stopped to shop. This town is very artsy and distinctive. If you’ve never been, you should go. A very busy town indeed!
The Enchanted Circle drive includes Red River, Questa, Taos Ski Valley, Angel Fire, & Eagle Nest
Day 7
Time to head back down Mountain to Amarillo. Spotted this Elk on top of a mountain overlooking his keep.

Checked into the hotel, got dolled up, then went to eat at the famous Big Texan. The kids enjoyed it very much. A great place for the entire family.

When you order a kid’s meal, the meal comes in a hat. Boot cost extra….well worth the smile!

Day 8
Driving home. Kids watched Wrecked Ralph 5 times!!!
We had a great time. I’m so glad Layla got to go with us. I thank Tabetha, Beth & Jennifer for letting that happen. She’ll forever have these memories.
Vacationing in northern New Mexico is beyond exciting and full of adventure. If you ever get the chance, you must go!!

What a great trip! I am jealous. Your favorite picture may be mine too. Although I really like the one of your kids blowing the dandelion together too.
Looks like both of the kids enjoyed themselves! Looks like a really cool place to visit and to unwind a bit.
Looks like a blast! Makes me really sad my family didn't get around to a trip this year. I can't believe you saw elk!!! I've been in Alberta for ages and still haven't seen any. Oh well, have my fingers crossed that I will soon ;).
