DIY Oatmeal Mandarin Goat Milk Soap
After you realize how easy it is to make soap bars at home, I bet you’ll want to keep making more. I know I do. This goat milk soap is a natural way to get clean. All you need is a few items, and you’ll have homemade soap the same day. I bought some of my supplies on Amazon, but I also used Willow and Sage.
Homemade soap made at home
After researching how to make soap, I’ve learned there are three popular ways to make it: cold process, hot process, and melt-and-pour. For beginners, and the easiest way is the melt-and-pour method. The soap base is made already, and all you have to do is add in your ingredients to make the soap you want. I am using the melt-and-pour method to make these soaps.

DIY Oatmeal Mandarin Goat Milk Soap
An easy homemade soap recipe made with goat's milk
Ingredients
- 2 lbs Goat's Milk Melt-and-Pour Soap Base
- 1/2 cup Dried Calendula
- 3 tbs Oatmeal, grounded in grinder or blender
- 2 tbs Raw Honey
- 1-1/2 tsp Mandarin or Wild Orange Essential Oil
- Soap mold or any type of container like an old vintage pan, the bottom of a milk carton, old box, etc.
- Double-boiler or a glass bowl and a pot
- A coffee grinder or blender
- Parchment or wax paper (for home remedy wood soap mold)
- Wooden spoon & a sharp knife to cut your soap
Instructions
-
Cut soap base in cubes and add it to a double-boiler or a glass bowl on top of a pot. Turn heat to medium-low and stir constantly as the soap base melts. Turn to low to finish melting. Do not let the soap boil.
-
Take the pot off the heat and let the temperature cool slightly as the soap base thickens (3-4 mins), keep stirring as you add in the dried calendula and ground oatmeal. Stir until incorporated.
-
Let the soap cool a little bit more before adding the raw honey and the mandarin or wild orange essential oil.
-
Pour the melted soap into your mold of choice. If you are using anything other than a soap mold, place parchment paper down first. I used a vintage pan and laid parchment paper down inside pan. It was so easy to come out.
-
Place your soap mold in a place where it can't be touched. You might want to lay a towel over it - that's what I did. Let it sit for about 3 hours. Test it first to see if it's hardened, if not leave let it sit for another hour. I let mine sit overnight.
-
Unmold the soap and slice into bars.

How to package homemade soap
Because I used a shallow vintage pan, I got 16-1/2 inch soap bars. First wrapped two soaps with a thick white ribbon. Then I tied another ribbon around that.
Second, I packaged the two soap bars in a cello bag, sprinkled a tiny bit of dried calendula inside, and tied the cello bag with a thin piece of string. Cute, uh?
Please let me know how your soap turns out, and if you have any questions at all, don’t hesitate to contact me either in a comment or an email at [email protected] Good luck.
