Colorado – what a gorgeous place to go on vacation. This is our Family Vacation Crested Butte & Gunnison, CO. A must go!
Family Vacation Crested Butte & Gunnison, CO
The State of Colorado is one place I’ve always like to go on vacation. Colorado was a place my family went to on our family vacations, still, I haven’t seen half of the state. I think Colorado would be the place that I would purchase a second home if I had the means too. Going there in the summer is entirely different from visiting in the winter months. It makes you appreciate that part of the country a whole lot more.
Crested Butte
We chose Crested Butte and Gunnison this year. A couple of years ago we went to Pike’s Peak area.
Crested Butte had their monthly farmer’s market day, so we were able to join in the fun!! They have a lovely town, and all of the excitement seems to be happening on that one main street. I don’t think we veered off this main street at all (well, maybe to park). I love outdoor markets. There was this boy selling guns that he made from Alpine wood. Of course, I had to buy one for Brody. It was only $12 bucks. Have no idea where it is today though!!!
Fun for Brody…mess for us. Well, it was my idea to get his arm painted rather than his face. That paint was everywhere but on his arm.
One of my favorite photos of the day!!

Pioneer Museum
Located right across the street from where we were staying was this substantial outdoor museum. We kept hearing bells after bells ringing and figured out that young kiddos were ringing the bell on an old yellow train. So, after a dip in the pool that afternoon we decided to take a look. This museum had about 30 something buildings which none were connected, so you had to walk outside to get to each building. I’ve never seen a museum quite like this one. It was awesome…and so much to see.
I captured just a few pictures of the day at the museum. There were hundreds of photos I could have taken and placed here but – number one I didn’t want to take up the day focusing on picture taking and number two this post would have been too long. If you’re ever in that area, this museum is a must-see!
There were old cars after old cars everywhere!! Buildings and buildings packed with old cars. We were in awe. If you’re a fan of old cars, again, this museum is the place to see them all. All kinds, all models just WOW!!
Crested Butte & Gunnison, CO was such a pleasant experience for us. That area is so breathtaking and worth a visit. After we left there, we headed toward New Mexico to where we will stay for three nights. But first, Tracy had to take us to the Dog Bar & Grill in Cuchara, CO. where he has been many times before.
