Many of you have family traditions around this time either on Christmas Day, before or after that you can cherish each year. My family, whether small or large (or with friends), make memories at the Gaylord Texan in Grapevine, Texas. Here’s another year of family traditions at Gaylord Texan Lone Star Christmas.
Family Traditions at Gaylord Texan Lone Star Christmas
Whether you go to the Gaylord Texan for ICE! or to take holiday family photos in their beautiful atrium or to stroll around to see all the lights, ornaments, the big Christmas tree, and the train, the hotel resort is full of cheer for the entire family to enjoy. As you probably know, Gaylord’s Lone Star Christmas and Christmas Village is a place where many family memories are made. Have you been? If so, please share your memories with me in a comment below. I’d love to read all about it.
Our Family Traditions at Gaylord Texan
Each year for the past twelve, my family has visited the Gaylord Texan during their Lone Star Christmas ICE! Event. We have made many memories at the hotel during this time, and it never gets old. My husband and I started going to ICE! in 2005 when our first grandchild was around four years old. She’s now sixteen. We took her to the first couple of ones, then started bringing our other grandkids too. We switch out, taking different family and friends.

Gaylord Texan ICE! Theme
It’s A Charlie Brown Christmas all through the Gaylord this year at ICE! Who doesn’t like that little man? He and his friends are certainly a favorite amongst all ages. I remember watching Charlie Brown’s holiday shows with my family as a little girl. Then with my first son thirty-five years ago, and now with Brody. What a family tradition right there!
This year, I invited my friend and her son, who Brody and I met at his archery classes. Besides finding out that we are all obsessed with “Stranger Things,” we also all love family traditions and Charlie Brown! We had a fabulous time, and the boys got to know each other better.
Esther and I couldn’t resist a little adult time in the “on the BLOCKS ice bar.” A first for us!
Did you know Lexus is a proud sponsor this year of Gaylord Texan ICE!? They had a photo booth available for free, so we took our picture. Who else did this?
Gaylord Texan Lone Star Christmas
After our dinner at Texas Station with Esther and Michael David, they left, and Brody & I enjoyed a sleepover at the hotel. I always let him pick out an animal at the Build-A-Bear exhibit in Christmas Village. This year he chose Toothless from the Dragon’s Movie.
It’s a PJ morning.
Lots and lots of families dress alike in their PJs when visiting the Gaylord Texan during the holidays. I love seeing that. So, Brody and I wandered down to the Cocoa Been for coffee and donuts, and I let him wear his. Not me, though!
This scenery never gets old to us.
We went walking around all through the hotel, looking at all the holiday decor. I can’t tell you enough how this place brings joy to my eyes. Seeing Brody so happy makes me happy as well. It’s something about Christmastime that brings joy to one’s heart – don’t you agree?
Though Brody has seen the LEGO building of the Gaylord Texan before, it’s his favorite thing to see. I know, because I asked him what his favorite thing to see was, and he mentioned this. This kid is way into LEGOS! It’s a pretty cool exhibit to see.
Until next years’ theme is announced and our Christmas at Gaylord Texan and family tradition begins all over again, have a very Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year!
