DIY Deep Hair Conditioner with Essential Oils

May 22, 2020 Kim 12 Comments

There’s nothing better than making homemade body products as long as it works, right? Here is a DIY deep hair conditioner with essential oils that works great. I’ll almost guarantee it, but as we all know, all hair is not born equal! Updated for 2020. This post contains affiliate links. That means if you click on my link and buy something, I will earn a small commission from the advertiser at no additional cost to you.

If you have dry hair, damaged hair, or both, chances are you need extra conditioning. Give this recipe a try instead of buying deep hair conditioning products at the store, or getting a deep hair conditioning treatment at a spa, which can be very expensive. Most hair treatments contain unnecessary chemicals that are not good for you or the environment.

This DIY deep hair conditioner is easy to make and will leave your hair soft, smooth, and chemical-free. Don’t worry if you don’t have doTerra’s essential oils, any 100% pure essential oils will work. Make sure there is nothing else added to the oils.

Make your own Deep Hair Conditioner with Essential Oils

Ingredients:

  • Three tablespoons coconut oil (not liquid)
  • One tablespoon avocado oil (olive oil will work too)
  • Eight drops doTerra essential oils (see suggestions below) or any 100% pure essential oils
  • Stand or hand mixer

Here are a few great 100% pure essential oils to consider: Lavender, Peppermint, Rosemary, Geranium, and Clary Sage. You can use one or all five of the essential oils in your deep hair conditioner. I like to use rosemary essential oil in mine.

Directions:

  1. Put coconut oil, olive oil, and essential oils in the mixing bowl.
  2. Mix on medium-high speed for 5 minutes or until ingredients are whipped to a thick and creamy consistency.
  3. Once whipped, apply to clean, dry hair.
  4. Comb through with a wide-tooth comb to evenly distribute.
  5. Let sit 15-20 minutes – rinse, shampoo, and style as desired.
  6. Repeat once a week or as often as desired.

Enjoy your soft, healthy, and chemical-free hair!

Do It Yourself Projects

If you like making bath and body products at home as I do, check out this excellent magazine I came across – Willow and Sage Magazine. I bought my first magazine at Central Market, and then I joined their affiliate program so I could let you all know you can purchase your magazine online using my link. If you do, I’ll get a small commission with no extra charge to you. They offer fantastic bath and body recipes, as well as home remedies and more. Willow and Sage is a lifesaver to me.

Here are two other products I made that you might want to try. One is my DIY All Natural Body Powder; you’ll never go back to store-bought powder again! The perfect natural product for hot flashes and night sweats, and safe on babies too. And, my Copycat doTerra Bubble Bath. Not a lot of bubbles, but just a warm bath with no chemicals!

I love a good intensive hair conditioner but I’ve never tried to make my own! This sounds like a really lovely conditioner, and I own the ingredients already so I can’t wait to give it a try xo
