Face it, holes in jeans are trendy, but not when the holes are so big that they show too much skin or look ratty or too shabby. How many times do you wish you could do something with all those clothes you may have outgrown or have become outdated or torn up? Here are a few clever ways to repurpose old clothes instead of throwing them out or giving them to Goodwill.

Old clothing often sits on your dresser or in the back of your closet, taking up space. We usually toss out our old clothing or hand it down to others when there is, in fact, more creative things you can do with your old clothes. Today I wanted to share a few clever ways to repurpose old clothes to inspire you to do something different with those unwearable clothes.
Make a Recycled Mini Purse
You can repurpose old clothes (think denim) into a mini purse or two. Using beads, scissors, or even bedazzling materials, you can quickly turn that old pair of jeans into a mini purse. Whether you repurpose old clothes for the holiday gift-giving season so you can give the little kids mini purses for gifts or not, this is a smart way to get more use out of those old clothes.
Woman’s Top
If your husband has a closet full of old shirts, you can quickly take them and create a woman’s top. Demin tops are perfect! This is done with sewing and a template to create the most elegant women’s tops out of your husband’s old shirts. You can even take this further and design dresses for your little girls. Using your spouse’s shirts is one of the most popular ways to repurpose old clothes.
Creative things to do with old clothes are a trend among crafters. It’s a sure-fire way to reuse and recycle if you can’t repair it.
Produce Bag
Find a good tutorial, and you can easily repurpose your old clothes into a produce bag. This bag is a great way to stop using paper or plastic bags at the grocery store. I’m sure there are plenty of tutorials out there, so follow the instructions, and voila, you have a produce bag to reuse repeatedly. Add some bling to it by using old clothes to make a polka dot theme for your produce bag.
Recycled Hair Accessories
Take your pretty old clothes and cut-up into petal shapes. As soon as you have a few petals, connect them by sewing or gluing them with fabric glue. You can then add a clip to the bottom and have new hair accessories. These hair accessories will look fabulous for the next outing or even add a little color to your life while working at home. Make some for your little girl or even your little fur baby.
Make a Scarf from Recycled Clothing
This scarf is a fabulous way to stay warm on cold winter days. Repurpose old clothes into a lovely scarf where you can create your design, color, and feel. Using old fleece, flannel, or dress shirts, you can weave the shirts together to create a look that pops. Scarfs are great to have when taking a walk, heading to pick up kids or heading to a semi-formal event.
As you can see, a few ways to repurpose old clothes. These ideas should undoubtedly lead you in the right direction as you work to reuse items that no longer serve their original purpose. Old clothes don’t have to take up space, and it’s easier to repurpose them when you can’t find someone to give them to or no one is your size.
