As I look back, I realize we have gone to Gaylord Texan’s Lone Star ICE! for the past nine years. Though I only have a record of a few visits on my blog, we have had many more years of fun there. I wanted to share our 9 Years of Gaylord Texan’s Lone Star ICE! with you. >>>> 2019 Update. I’ve added some years to my post here!! We are still enjoying Christmas at Gaylord Texan. It’s now been twelve (12) years we’ve spent visiting ICE! AND ONE MORE FOR THE ROAD – 2020.

Gaylord Texan is the best place I can think of to start a Family Tradition. I suppose after visiting here for almost twelve years straight, I can indeed call the Gaylord Texan Our Family Tradition during the holidays.
9 Years of Gaylord Texan’s Lone Star ICE!
Every year we go to ICE! and tell our friends about it, I’m amazed at how many have never been. Gaylord Texan is a place that families gather for the holidays, a place where grandparents take their grandkids, and many family traditions begin. I’m happy to be a part of it all.
My family has been going to ICE since 2007 (maybe earlier), and it’s pretty amazing. You have to bundle up in a big coat (parka) that they provide, and you can slide down a giant ice slide. It’s family-friendly all around. ICE! Themes change every year, and it merely gets more amazing each year. You can grab a hot chocolate and pick up a few souvenirs in their Christmas shop. This year they even have a Build-A-Bear station where you can get your favorite plush animal stuffed. And the tubes (more ice slides) seemed even longer and more fun than previous years. Christmastime at the Gaylord is a must!
9 Years of Gaylord Texan’s Lone Star ICE! And Counting
I can’t remember when the Gaylord became a part of Marriott, but it’s just another reason why I love going. I’ve been a Marriott BONVOY Rewards Member since my days at Delta Air Lines, which was back in 1998.
2020 – I Love Christmas Movies

2019 – Charlie Brown Christmas
Lone Star ICE! is more extended and more energetic and gets better year after year!! They brought back Charlie Brown this year because it’s everyone’s favorite (according to a pole that was taken by Gaylord Texan), so they brought back this courageous kid and his friends.
We celebrated my son’s 10th birthday at ICE!, snow tubing and ice skating, and delicious hot chocolate!!
I went three times this year. Once with the kids, another time with friends, and the third time with my husband and son. Do you think I like ICE! I think so.
AND, if you’re wondering how much I love ICE!, I worked at the Gaylord Texan this year during ICE! Yup, sure did, I worked in Special Events which covered the Escape Room, Cookies with Mrs. Clause, Gingerbread House, and Wayfinding. That was a fun temporary job and boy did I get in a lot of walking!

I don’t know about you, but I think this little red-nosed reindeer is pretty darn cute. He’s one of my all-time favorite characters of Christmastime. We never miss a TV show.

2007 – How the Grinch Stole Christmas!
This year could very well be our first Christmas at Gaylord Texan ICE!
As you can see, we LOVE Gaylord Texan’s Lone Star ICE. The last three (now 5 or 6) the Gaylord Texan invited me, and they gave us tickets in exchange for social exposure, but for the most part, my family has enjoyed many years of ICE! on our own, and there will be many more to come!!
We can’t wait to see what 2020 brings, and to find out what their theme will be this year! So exciting!!

Wow!! 9 years?? That is definitely a fun, family tradition! I love this. It must hold a special place in your heart with lots of great memories.
I went to ICE here in Orlando many years ago, and it was definitely a blast! The huge coats are so much fun. We don’t have snow or any “real” winters here in Florida, so that was a nice taste of it!
It’s so cool that you have all these photos from the trips too. It’s nice to look back on photos and think about where we were in our lives at those moments (mentally), and to relive the moments with family.
