When you walk up and down those beauty aisles, how do you know if they are genuinely natural and safe? High priced tags certainly don’t mean they are better for you than lower-priced ones. Here are 8 simple bath & body products to make at home at half the cost.
Did you know there are 20 or so different choices for body wash at the store? The options vary by scent, size, price, company…one’s head can surely spin. But like food, you’ll still need to read the ingredients. If you don’t want to spend time reading ingredients, then the next best thing is to make your own.
8 Simple Bath & Body Products to Make at Home
While it’s nice sometimes to just grab your favorite beauty product quickly off the shelf, there are simple ways to get what you want. If you’ve got the time, you can make certain bath and body products yourself. Here are some products for you to consider making at home.
Bubble Bath to Make at Home
You’re never too old for bubbles! Did you know its super simple to make your bubble bath from home? And the impressive part is that you probably have some if not all of the items needed at home. Why spend that money at the store on a product full of chemicals that you can’t even pronounce when you can create a better alternative suited to what you truly want.
All you need is mild hand soap, a bit of honey, and one egg white. If you’re going to have a scent you love, you can add a few drops of essential oil as well. The choice is yours. Check out the details for the full recipe here, or you can make one that I’ve made that has been very popular – copycat doTerra DIY bubble bath.
Sugar Body Scrub
Your essential sugar body scrub is this: 2 cups organic turbinado sugar; 1/2 liquid coconut oil at room temperature; 1 tsp of your favorite essential oil. Mix all together in a glass bowl with a wooden spoon. That’s pretty much it. Be sure to store in an air-tight glass jar. I made a Lavender Sugar Scrub that I just love.
Natural Coffee Face Cleanser
If you love all things coffee, try putting it on your face! Not only will it give your skin a glow, but you’ll also smell like a good ole’ cup of joe all day long! It is two ingredients; organic coffee grounds and slightly warmed coconut oil. Mix the two, then scrub gently on your face. Wash off with warm water, and you’re done!
Homemade Toothpaste using essential oils
I’m not a dentist by any means, but I have perfected the best fluoride-free toothpaste about 4 yrs ago. It just happens to be the most popular DIY post on my blog. It takes baking soda, coconut oil, essential oils, and a few more ingredients. See my full DIY Toothpaste recipe.
All-Natural Body Powder
I have also perfected this homemade body product. I practically use it every day. Seeing that most baby powders on the market have talc and other chemicals in it, I prefer to make my own from arrowroot and cornstarch powders. See my all-natural body powder for the recipe. You’ll never go back!
