In a couple of days, January 2019 will be here. Many of us are making New Year’s resolutions. Are you? Is starting a green lifestyle your goal for this year? If so, I’m sharing 5 Green Resolutions for Your Home that I believe are resolutions you can keep forever!
5 Green Resolutions for Your Home
While exercising more is always on my list for the new year, this year I’m also making some green resolutions for my home. If you’re wondering what my word is for 2019, it’s GREENER. I’m going to find ways to go just a little greener. Do you have one? Tell me in a comment and why you chose it.
Use things up
It’s so easy to forget what’s already in the cabinets and buy something new instead. My husband does this, and it drives me crazy! This year, I’m going to use up all those half-empty bottles of glass cleaner and all-purpose cleaner that are way in the back under the sink cabinet. I would love to reorganize this cabinet, but that’s another blog post!
Go Tree-free
Did you know that paper towels and toilet paper wipe out 94,000 trees every day, and that’s just the US? Grove’s Seedling products, (paper towels, toilet paper, tissue paper, facial tissues, and napkins) are made from bamboo and upcycled sugarcane and are tree-free.
Upgrade everyday cleaning products
Replace synthetic sponges with alternatives that are better for your family and the planet, like the walnut scrubber sponges made from walnuts and vegetable cellulose from Gove. Tackle holiday clean-up with products you can feel good about.
Use less plastic
Stop using single-use plastic in your home by using glass containers for storing all leftovers. I love that I can order refills of Mrs. Meyer’s hand soap through Grove so I can reuse the dispenser instead of tossing it out. This past year, the Grove community saved 50,000 pounds of plastic. Ditch plastic bottles in the new year with our Hand and Dish Soap Set. Our soap pouches use 60% less plastic and contain 2-3 refills.
Here are four plastic alternatives for sustainable living that I love…and use.
- Glass spray bottle
- Glass water bottle
- Natural bee’s wraps for sandwiches (these are reusable)
- Reusable bags

I have found one of the easiest ways to keep my going greener resolution is to continue using glass containers instead of using single-use plastic. This will save you money in the long run too. Now, if I can get my husband on board with it, I’d have it made.
